Visit to the PCSS

Visit to the PCSS

In a vacation mood, we’re back with posts and news from INDEVOPS life.

Despite the summer atmosphere, there’s always something going on. One such event was the completion of projects for our client, Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center. We implemented the entire #VMware stack (VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)) there, and the projects were a huge success.

It’s worth mentioning that the non-trivial cases we solved were tailored to the needs of this particular client. Both sides are very satisfied with the cooperation, which resulted in our trip to Poznań.

Finally, we could meet in person, although we were always in constant contact.

The casual, informal atmosphere of the meeting brought additional benefits. A very successful trip, it’s clear that everyone involved needed it.

It’s always good to meet in such a distinguished group with colleagues from Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center (PCSS), Alma, and Dell Technologies.

Thanks to this, we could get to know the entire project from the organizational side, see the scale of the investment, and touch the physical “blocks” that we delivered.

We are very satisfied and proud of how the Ops team was involved in the entire #PCSS project, and how well they represented the Indevops company not only at regular meetings and presentations for the client but also on the trip to Poznań. Our colleague “BB” was the best of all at the integration meeting in shooting.

The best summary of the trip was given by Marcin Rzepa: “I can confidently say that our people are a real ‘Thorin’s Company’ that conquered PCSS.”

Ironman Final

Ironman Final

The third part of my story is all about training, training, training, and the much-anticipated Ironman competition finale. I often get asked if my passion for sports clashes with my work at INDEVOPS, given how much time I spend training. 😊

With good organization, anything is possible, and sports absolutely do not conflict with working well in the company. On the contrary, thanks to training, I’m more effective at work because a clear mind helps me perform my daily tasks better.

My training routine is very simple. I try to do most of my training before work. My day starts at 5:15 AM, though, as I mentioned earlier, I don’t want to overwork myself physically, so there are days when I sleep until 8:00 AM. 😊 I treat the preparation for Ironman as fun and a way to take care of my health.

In the first phase of my training, I focused mainly on running (slowly increasing the distance week by week) and maintaining my swimming form. Whenever the weather allowed, I would take my bike and learn how to ride a road bike, as I had no previous experience with it. I know that this is my weakest link, but I’m still trying to polish my form before the race.

It’s worth mentioning that thanks to this, I feel really good. The training isn’t as exhausting as it was during my studies. I’m not “burning out,” so I have enough energy to stick to my diet properly. Now, I have energy for the whole day, which allows me to work effectively at Indevops as well. I treat my participation in Ironman as a way to take a break from sitting in front of the computer for 8 hours “+.” 😊

From Saturday, August 4 to Sunday, August 5, the long-awaited start of the competition!

I want to thank everyone for their support, especially my colleagues, because I have to say that the supporters from Indevops were amazing. 💪😊 I also want to thank my company for sponsoring my participation in Ironman; it means a lot to me that I can fulfill my dreams.

With a time of 4:56, I took 5th place in my age category. This is definitely not my last word on the subject, and it won’t be my last Ironman race!

P.S. All of us at Indevops, led by Pawel Orzechowski, are very proud of you, Szymon Leszega! It’s a great honor to have such a promoter of sports in our ranks (and we should add that you’re not the only one). We’re delighted with your participation in the Ironman competition and look forward to more! Congratulations on your success!

Before the start

Before the start

There are 2 weeks left until Szymon Leszega’s start in the Ironman competition in Gdynia. Szymon does not let up on his training and shares with us another portion of news from his preparations. We invite you to read more.

The second part of my story started with shopping. 😊 I bought basic shoes and started, first to learn to run and further to support my swimming. In addition, I added a gym, because there were stationary trainers, on which I could already start the adventure of “cycling”. After a few days, I knew immediately that I had caught the bug for training again. So I decided that, for the sake of my head, I would not impose on myself a mass of hours of training, etc… I would listen to my body, and not overtrain as it was, for example: in college.
In addition, I started looking around for a basic bike on which I could compete in the IRONMAN and the choice was a regular road bike.

Working at INDEVOPS does not interfere with my preparations at all, as we have irregular working hours. It is known that we have meetings at given times that we have to be at, but the rest is very flexible. So everything started to work out great. To be continued…

Indevops as a sponsor of Szymon Leszega during Ironman in Gdynia

We are extremely proud to support our employees in pursuing their passions.

And we are delighted to announce that INDEVOPS has become an Official Sponsor of Szymon Leszega for Ironman 70.3, Gdynia 2024.

We are also launching a series of stories by Szymon Leszega about his preparations for the competition. Read on and cheer him on! We believe in you, Szymon!

Part one of my story… Ironman!

My adventure at an American university ended last year. As you may remember, I was on the swim team there, which was a demanding challenge. I decided that I didn’t want to continue training that was so physically and mentally demanding. It was time for a break.

It often happened that I spent about 20 hours a week training, so after returning to Poland, I decided to take a break from hard training. I wanted to see what it was like to live like a “normal person,” of course, I still worked for INDEVOPS.

However, I couldn’t go long without sport, because after about two weeks I started to feel strange sensations that I had never experienced before. I was more tired during the day, I didn’t have the motivation to work, and I also had a poor appetite. I felt very strange in my body.

I decided to do something, to change something. Spontaneously, I decided to test my strength in the IRONMAN event. I thought: I can swim, so 1/3 is already behind me. I’ll sit down and train for the rest of the competition.

And it will be a great adventure, because you have to compete in three sports disciplines (cycling, swimming, running) in total, which will be a great way to work on my body and mental health.
